This week I found myself experiencing emotional pains in my body. I knew the aches and issues I was experiencing physically were most likely related to stuck energy and emotions. I tried using some of my tools, including yoga and tapping, also known as Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT). For those who are unfamiliar with EFT, it is a technique that combines Chinese practices of acupressure with modern psychology. I found the usage of both these tools temporarily relieving, but I could still feel some residual achiness and heaviness in my body. I could feel I needed to cry to fully release it all, but for some reason I couldn’t.
Then I went to my monthly reiki session. Reiki originated in Japan as a spiritual and healing practice. It helps to shift and move energy that exists within the body. I told my reiki practitioner to help with the stuck energy I was experiencing.
That night I had vivid and informative dreams about what I was struggling with. The next morning my intuition was telling me to open my own Akashic Records and take time to journal. I soon found myself overwhelmed with emotion as I started tuning into messages and writing. I let the emotions pour out and knew this was the way I was fully releasing everything. This wasn’t the first time a healing practice I attended was helpful in this way.
During the height of the pandemic I was working full-time as a psychotherapist. Being an empath, I have a tendency to easily feel other people’s energies and emotions. It’s truly a gift and helps with being a healer. However, the part I have struggled with is being able to release all I have taken on from other people. During this time, I also was having a lot of feelings of my own about everything happening in the world.
I remember during one specific acupuncture session I attended during the pandemic, I asked for help with releasing emotions. The morning after my session, it was like the floodgates had been opened and I cried on and off for hours while watching TV programs that weren't even that sad! I believe the acupuncture session removed the blockages I had in place, like a dam being removed. That session paired with giving myself permission to feel, allowed me to release all I had been carrying. I felt so much lighter afterward!
Anyone may consciously or unconsciously stuff down, contain, or avoid their emotions, especially ones that feel unpleasant. But the truth is, emotions are messengers trying to tell us something. It's important that we pay attention to the information coming from our emotions. If we don’t listen and attend to our emotions, they will build up and blockages will be created in the body. This leads to physical, mental and emotional issues and illnesses.
It’s important to regularly care for our body, mind, and soul. This means helping emotions move through you so the energy can leave your body instead of getting stuck inside your body. You can do this in a number of ways. The experience of releasing the energy can also vary, and sometimes people want to avoid those experiences or are concerned when they see them in others, such as when people cry. However, a release of energy is a good thing and is important to our well-being. Ever hear someone talk about having a “good cry”? This is what they're talking about.
There are many tools and strategies for releasing stuck emotions. These are just some that I often use or recommend to others. I encourage you to use what works for you.
EFT/tapping
Reiki
Yoga
Massage
Acupuncture or acupressure
Journaling or writing
Dancing or some other form of movement
Angel healing, including focusing on chakras and meridians. Chakras are the energy centers of the body and meridians are like the energy highways.
Breathwork, which includes various forms of conscious, altered breathing and has its origins in many places and cultures throughout the world. Some examples are the Indian practice of pranayama, the Chinese practice of Qigong, and the Hawaiian practice of Piko Piko breathing.
I will often witness people becoming emotional during my sessions with them. It can even catch some people off guard as they weren’t expecting to have such a reaction. But I assure them that this is normal, since it is a way of releasing an emotion that needs to find its way out of their body. This is what healing can look like. And if you don’t cry or become emotional in a session with me, don’t worry. Releasing energy can also be experienced as yawning, or other sensations in the body such as tingling or a change in body temperature.
So how do I personally help people with releasing stuck energy? Through Angel healing sessions that include reading the person’s chakras and meridians to see if there is any stuck energy or problematic energy patterns happening. I also use the Akashic Records and work with the angels to provide information on how these energy imbalances are occurring. The messages I receive from angels can also include personalized strategies to help someone with making long-term changes to avoid the imbalances from recurring.
If you’re interested in learning more about how to release emotions or stuck energy, or want to work on healing energy imbalances together in a session, feel free to reach out to me or book a session. I’d love to see how I might be able to help you heal and release anything you need to let go of!
